Neuro-Developmental Movement Programme (K1 to P6)

A movement programme designed to improve the child‛s learning and functioning by addressing the underlying neuro-developmental delay. This programme is based on the Institute for Neuro Physiological Psychology (INPP) Method which has more than four decades of research, expertise and practice in helping children to resolve physical factors that cause learning and behavioural problems.

An assessment to evaluate the child’s neuro-motor maturity (which includes the functioning of balance, primitive reflexes and visual skills) will be conducted at the start of the programme. Through this assessment and analysis of the child, developmental movement exercises are devised for the child to carry out daily at home with parental involvement.

Suitable for: Children with learning disorders or developmental delays who require 1-1 setting due to the severity of their learning disorders, medical conditions or behavioural issues.

Sessions: 7 sessions are conducted at a two-months interval for each parent and child pair. This programme takes about a year to complete and is conducted by our principal educational therapist.

Quotes

Chris was suspected to be on the autism spectrum at the age of three. He has speech delay, poor eye contact, is very active and easily distracted by new places and stimuli.

After attending the neuro-development movement programme, Chris showed improvements in terms of speech and eye contact, although he could still be quite active or impulsive. Because Chris has more words and is able to tell us about his needs and feelings better (although not as good as his peers), he has fewer tantrums and meltdowns. He likes some of the exercises and is able to do them on his own now. We are glad that he listens and follows instructions.

What I like about this programme is that it does not require any special tools and I can do it at home with my child, as many times as I want.

Parent of Chris, Participant of Neuro Development Movement (NDM) Programme

After two months of attending Care Corner’s ‘KidsBright’ Programme, I found that my son has been gradually improving on his behaviors and social skills. The programme includes a dietary approach, mental and physical exercises.

Now, my son shares with me what he did in school, something he could not previously. He is also able to express his feelings and read others’ facial expressions better. With better communication with his younger sister, they now play better together.

Last month when I sent my son to school, I found that he was able to share his vacation plan with another school mate in the bus – I was so happy about that.

Ms Poon, mother of a P1 son diagnosed with Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) attending KidsBright

The exercises taught during the classes were extremely useful and helpful for my boy. His school and tuition teachers all said that they saw a great improvement in his behaviour and his ability to focus. They also saw him trying very hard to focus even during times when the subjects were not so interesting. He also walked around the class less too.

We are very happy with the results and are glad that there are improvements to his behaviour. Isaac had been a very patient therapist and was consistently encouraging him and correcting his exercise posture. We also recommended the courses to some of our friends.

Not everyone can be a teacher in my opinion, not to mention a good one. It requires a certain level of ‘super power’ at times, especially when teaching special needs students. You – for one, are one of the heroines in my boy’s life.

Thank you so much for being this kind, loving, gentle, encouraging, and most importantly, a patient teacher all these years.

I know my boy can be a handful at times, and as a mother, I also understand that you might be vomiting buckets of blood when teaching him. Nevertheless, you didn’t give up on him. For that, I am forever grateful. Ms. Veronica Lee is by far one of the best teachers I have ever encountered, and I will NOT hesitate to recommend her to anyone who is in need of a good teacher.

Once again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you Ms. Lee!

Mother of P6 boy

Kevin has been with Care Corner since he was in K2. When he was diagnosed with dyslexia in P2, Care Corner never pushed him aside. The educators here patiently guide and support him with all the knowledge needed unconditionally. Building his confidence and skills to write and read are remarkable.

Watching him grow and develop in Care Corner was really emotional. I am proud to see his progress and achievements each year. From a child who used to throw tantrums every time we asked him to read and learn his spellings, he has now grown to be independent in finishing his homework on time. His passion to learn has also grown together in him. In P5, he was awarded ‘Best In Foundation Mathematics’ and this year, he was awarded ‘Best In Foundation Science’ and he ended his Primary School journey with great PSLE results.

Once again, I would like to extend thanks to all teaching staff who have taught Kevin from K2 till P6, of which I can recall, Ms Hazel and Ms Rebecca. Not forgetting all the non-teaching staff for all the support provided throughout 7 years.

Mother of Kevin (P6) who has been with Care Corner for 7 years

From struggling to read, to now doing better on his own. He is also achieving greater marks for every exams (used to be below 20 marks). Lennon enjoyed every class & you’ve given him so much confidence for the PSLE. He managed to go Normal Academic.

Thank you for all your patience & understanding through his journey in Care Corner.

Mother of Lennon (P6)
