What is Mindful Steps?
Mindful Steps is a brisk-walking programme that aims to reduce the risk of dementia and promote mental wellness of residents in Toa Payoh.
The programme seeks to create opportunities for social engagement & interactions amongst residents, as well as to build their informal social support network.
Day/Time of event: Every Friday, 8.15am – 10am (excluding Public Holidays)
Commitment Level: At least twice a month
Minimum age: 18 and above
Language proficiency: English or Mandarin and preferably 1 other local dialect.
Other requirements:
Able to walk 1.5km and engage with participants (likely to be seniors) during the walk.
Role(s) of a Volunteer:
- To support participants in doing warm-up & cool-down exercises
- To walk alongside participants & engage them in conversations
- To ensure the safety of participants by keeping a lookout for traffic during the walk
Attire: Sportswear, no slippers allowed.
